Health Guarantee & Puppy Sales Agreement

At Margaret Katrina Doxies, the health and well-being of every Dachshund puppy is extremely important to us. We make every effort to provide healthy, well-cared-for puppies and accurate information to their new families. The following health guarantee outlines the responsibilities of both the Seller and Buyer and the conditions that apply to each puppy sale.

1. Seller & Buyer

Margaret Katrina Doxies shall hereinafter be referred to as the “Seller.” The original purchasing party, and solely the original purchasing party, shall hereinafter be referred to as the “Buyer.”

2. Initial Veterinary Examination

The Buyer should have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian as soon as possible after receiving the puppy. We strongly recommend scheduling the examination within the first few days of arrival.

The Buyer is responsible for providing the puppy with appropriate veterinary care, vaccinations, examinations, deworming, medications, and follow-up treatments as recommended by a licensed veterinarian.

3. Ongoing Health & Veterinary Care

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining the puppy’s health after purchase. This includes keeping the puppy on an appropriate vaccination and deworming schedule, providing proper nutrition, regular veterinary examinations, exercise appropriate for the puppy’s age, and any necessary medical treatment.

The Buyer should retain veterinary records, receipts, vaccination records, and other documentation relating to the puppy’s care.

Failure to provide appropriate and timely veterinary care may void applicable portions of this health guarantee.

4. Genetic & Hereditary Conditions

Our goal is to provide healthy Dachshund puppies and to disclose known health information to the best of our knowledge. If a puppy is diagnosed with a qualifying congenital or hereditary condition that significantly affects the animal’s health, the Buyer must provide written documentation from a licensed veterinarian.

Where appropriate, additional veterinary evaluation may be requested to confirm the diagnosis and determine whether the condition qualifies under this guarantee.

This guarantee applies only to qualifying genetic or hereditary conditions and does not cover illnesses, injuries, accidents, environmental conditions, or conditions resulting from improper care.

5. Conditions Not Covered

This health guarantee does not cover conditions that may commonly occur in puppies or that may result from environmental factors, accidents, improper care, or failure to follow veterinary recommendations.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

• Intestinal parasites

• Giardia or coccidia

• Roundworms, hookworms, or tapeworms

• Kennel cough

• Ear mites or skin mites

• Mange

• Allergies

• Minor heart murmurs

• Cherry eye

• Hernias

• Hypoglycemia

• Accidental injuries

• Poisoning

• Behavioral or temperament issues

• Conditions resulting from overfeeding or improper exercise

• Veterinary expenses associated with routine care

• Spaying or neutering expenses

Temperament and behavioral development can be influenced by training, socialization, environment, and individual circumstances and are therefore not covered by this guarantee.

6. Dachshund Health Considerations

Because Dachshunds have a distinctive long-backed body structure, owners should take particular care during their growth period. Excessive jumping, repeated stair climbing, or strenuous exercise should be avoided, particularly while the puppy is young.

The Buyer is responsible for following appropriate veterinary recommendations regarding exercise, weight management, nutrition, and general care.

Maintaining a healthy body weight is especially important for a Dachshund’s long-term well-being.

7. Hip, Knee & Other Orthopedic Conditions

If an orthopedic or hereditary condition is suspected, the Buyer should notify the Seller and obtain an evaluation from a licensed veterinarian.

Where radiographic evaluation is required, diagnostic images and veterinary reports must be properly identified and submitted according to the requirements of the applicable veterinary or orthopedic organization.

Any determination of a qualifying hereditary orthopedic condition must be supported by appropriate veterinary documentation.

8. Value of the Guarantee

For purposes of this guarantee, the value of the puppy is limited to the original purchase price paid for the puppy. Shipping charges, transportation expenses, veterinary expenses, health certificates, crates, supplies, and other additional costs are not included unless specifically agreed to in writing.

9. Replacement Puppy

If a qualifying congenital or hereditary condition is confirmed and all requirements of this health guarantee have been satisfied, the Seller may provide a replacement Dachshund puppy of comparable value, subject to availability.

No cash refund is provided under a replacement-puppy provision. If the Buyer chooses a puppy of greater value, the difference in price may apply.

All transportation and shipping costs associated with a replacement puppy are the responsibility of the Buyer unless otherwise agreed in writing.

10. Non-Transferable Guarantee

This health guarantee applies only to the original Buyer and is non-transferable. It does not apply if ownership of the puppy has been transferred to another individual.

11. Pet-Only Sales

Our Dachshund puppies are sold as companion pets unless a separate written breeding agreement has been established.

We do not guarantee future size, weight, coat color, markings, conformation, show quality, breeding ability, or adult temperament.

12. Registration Documents

Where applicable, registration documentation will be provided in accordance with the terms of the individual puppy sale. The Buyer is responsible for maintaining and properly completing any registration documents provided.

Any replacement registration documents, transfers, renewals, or associated fees may be the responsibility of the Buyer.

13. Website Information

Margaret Katrina Doxies makes reasonable efforts to ensure that information published about available Dachshund puppies is accurate and current. This may include breed, gender, color, date of birth, parent information, and other available details.

Minor typographical, photographic, or descriptive errors may occur, and photographs may not always represent the puppy’s exact adult appearance.

14. Shipping & Transportation

Transportation may be arranged through third-party carriers where available. Shipping dates may be affected by weather, temperature restrictions, airline or carrier requirements, mechanical issues, scheduling, or other circumstances outside the Seller’s control.

The Seller’s priority is the safety and well-being of the puppy. Transportation may therefore be postponed when conditions are considered unsuitable.

The Buyer is responsible for applicable transportation expenses unless otherwise stated in the purchase agreement.

15. Cancellations

If the Buyer cancels a purchase before the puppy is delivered, any applicable deposit or administrative fee will be handled according to the terms agreed upon at the time of purchase.

16. No Returns for Refund

Puppies are not accepted for return in exchange for a monetary refund because of personal circumstances, allergies, housing or landlord restrictions, marital or family changes, adjustment difficulties, or similar circumstances.

If the Buyer can no longer keep the Dachshund, the Buyer should contact the Seller so that appropriate rehoming or surrender options can be discussed.

17. Veterinary Expenses

The Buyer understands that owning a Dachshund puppy involves ongoing veterinary expenses. The Buyer is responsible for routine examinations, vaccinations, deworming, medications, emergency treatment, spaying or neutering, and other veterinary costs incurred after purchase unless specifically covered by a separate written agreement.

This health guarantee does not constitute pet insurance.

18. Guarantee Period

Any applicable genetic or hereditary health guarantee is subject to the specific terms and time period stated in the puppy’s individual sales agreement. Claims must be submitted within the applicable guarantee period and supported by documentation from a licensed veterinarian.

Conditions caused by neglect, improper nutrition, excessive exercise, accidents, injury, failure to obtain veterinary care, or other preventable circumstances are not covered.

19. Buyer’s Responsibilities

By purchasing a Dachshund puppy from Margaret Katrina Doxies, the Buyer agrees to:

• Provide proper food, water, shelter, exercise, and supervision.

• Maintain regular veterinary care.

• Keep vaccinations and deworming current.

• Follow veterinary recommendations.

• Maintain a healthy body weight.

• Avoid excessive exercise and jumping during growth.

• Provide appropriate socialization and training.

• Seek veterinary attention promptly if illness or injury occurs.

• Keep all relevant veterinary and health records.

20. Acknowledgment

The Buyer acknowledges that no puppy can be guaranteed to remain completely free from every possible illness or medical condition throughout its lifetime. Genetics, environment, nutrition, exercise, veterinary care, and many other factors can influence a dog’s health.

Margaret Katrina Doxies makes every reasonable effort to raise healthy Dachshund puppies and provide families with accurate health information available at the time of sale.

By completing a purchase, the Buyer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to the applicable terms of the Health Guarantee and Sales Agreement.
